It’s not the actual name for this Bean Spread dish but we call it Romanian Hummus. Hummus because it’s a spread and when you look at it you’ll notice that it is similar to hummus and Romanian because it is actually a Romanian dish and also it is packed with garlic. Just the way I like it.
It is easy to make and can be stored in a container in the fridge for up o 5 days, I wouldn’t risk it for longer than that with beans. If you like the taste of garlic this is the dish for you. Some Romanian Hummus on a piece of fresh bread and it’s heaven in your mouth.
White Bean Spread or simply Romanian Hummus

Ingredients
- 1 Can White Kidney Bean
- 4 Garlic Cloves
- 2 Onions – Chopped
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 3 tbsp Vegetable Oil
- Salt & Pepper
Instructions
- Although the canned beans are cooked, cook it for about 20 minutes in water with a few carrots and some salt and pepper. It will give it that extra taste. If you have chicken soup powder, add it as well.
- Drain the beans once done cooking and save some of the liquids aside (about 2-3 tbsp)
- Place the beans, garlic, olive oil, cooked beans liquid, salt and pepper in a chopper or food processor and let chop until the mixture is smooth.
- Sauté chopped onions with vegetable oil over medium heat until golden brown.
- Place the bean mix in a container and cover with a thick layer of onion and serve.
