Mashed potatoes are my favorite side dish. The only thing I don’t like about this dish is the fact that you have to peel the potatoes; I just don’t like the process that’s all. However, when you think about it, there are so many dishes using unpeeled potatoes so I thought to myself, why not give it a try? And guess what? I’ve been making these brown unpeeled mashed potatoes ever since. Everyone seem to like it, it’s less work for me and If I may say, it even looks more sophisticated this way. Give it a try, you’ll love it.
Brown Mashed Potatoes with Nutmeg
Author: Maya Moscovich
Recipe type: Side Dish
So much less work than a plain ol' mashed potato dish. Just leave the peel on and cook away.
Ingredients
- 8 Medium sized Potatoes
- 3 Garlic Cloves – Peeled
- ½ tsp Salt
- 50gr Butter
- ½ tsp Ground Nutmeg
- ½ Cup Milk
Instructions
- Rinse potatoes really well and cut into medium size cubes (size doesn’t really matter). Do not peel the potatoes.
- Place cubed potatoes along with garlic cloves in a large pot, cover with water, add the salt and cover. Cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes or until potatoes are tender and can be poked with a fork.
- Drain water, add butter, nutmeg and milk and mash everything together and serve.
