Easy Mediterranean Sesame Pretzels

Mediterranean Sesame Pretzel

Carb craving is a real thing you know! and when I crave carbs it’s not the sweet kind of carbs, I crave BREAD! but let’s be honest, I can’t eat a loaf of bread…well, at least I’ll never admit it 🙂 but what I CAN devour is bread bites. Delicious fresh baked versions of bread, pretzel, pastry or anything non-sweet carb.

This next recipe is just that! fresh, delicious, light and of course – easy.

Easy Miditerranean Sesame Pretzels

Adding the sesame on top adds so much flavor, and of course you can switch with za’atar, coarse salt, black sesame, poppy seeds or whatever you like.

We love this recipe served with za’atar to dip in and a side of freshly chopped salad. Although it’s “only” pretzels – it is definitely the centerpiece of a meal.

Easy to make yet very impressing when serving. these pretzels are definitely the centerpiece of a light meal.

Ingredients

  • 200 ml Water

  • 2 tsp. Dry Yeast

  • 1 tsp. Sugar

  • 600 gr White Flour

  • 1 tsp. Salt

  • 150 ml Vegetable Oil

  • 150 ml Milk

  • 1 Tbsp. Apple Cider Vinegar

  • Pretzel Coating
  • 2 Tbsp. Honey

  • 100 ml Warm Water

  • 1/2 cup Sesame Seeds

Directions

  • Mix the water, yeast and sugar and set aside.
  • Mix the flour, salt, oil and milk.
  • Add the yeast mix into the flour mix and add the apple cider vinegar. Mix using the knead attachment on your mixer until well combined and you get a soft dough. Cover dough bowl with kitchen towel and place in a preheated oven to 30-40C (turned off) for 1 hour.
  • Divide dough into 20-24 balls and roll each ball to a long string about 1/2 inch thick. Roll each 2 strings around each other (like the shape of a screw) and connect the ends to create a full ring.
  • In a medium bowl mix the honey and water to create the dipping syrup.
  • Dip each pretzel ring in the syrup (no need to dip both sides, one is enough) and then immediately dip in a bowl with sesame (so the sesame sticks to the syrup) and place on a parchment paper covered baking sheet. Let dipped pretzels stand for 15 minutes on the baking sheet.
  • Place in preheated oven on 200C for 15 minutes until browned and nice.
